I recently received an email with this subject line: Internet Banking Channel and I am concerned that it could be an attempt at defrauding me. Let me know in the comments section what you think, please.

Dear customer
Internet banking gives you access to all the accounts linked to your card, you can view your statements and can have your balances and statements emailed to you.

The Home screen
The Home screen displays all accounts linked to your card. You can now view additional investment accounts linked to your primary card. Up to 100 accounts in total can be viewed. This screen enables you to view the latest available balances on all of these accounts.
The menu at the top of the page enables you to perform many other useful functions such as:
accessing your statements
paying beneficiaries
transferring funds between your accounts
increasing or decreasing your overdraft
communicating with your branch
you can even open and manage investment accounts
view unit trust balances and switch between funds
recharge prepaid airtime
buy and sell shares and more

Linking Accounts
You can link any of the following accounts to your card

Note: For some accounts, you need to send a secure message via Internet banking or visit a branch to have the accounts linked to your card.

Statements
You can get statements on any account linked to your card. You can view your provisional and/or historical statements of your accounts, sort the transactions and download them in different formats.
To view statements:
Step 1: Click on Statements.
Step 2: Click on View statements on the sub menu.

Emailing of balances and statements
You can register to have daily, weekly or monthly balances and provisional statements on your current and savings accounts emailed to you. The message is sent to you in a secure format so you need to download the decoder from the Internet banking home page. You need to register for this service within Internet banking and create a password to access your encrypted statement.
To Register:
Step 1: Click on Statements.
Step 2: Select Email statements from the sub-menu.
Step 3: Enter your email address.
Step 4: Create a password to unlock your encrypted statement.
Step 5: Select either Statement or Balance to be emailed to you and follow the instructions.

This one is very clever and very sneaky – it masquerades as advice BUT contains links to sites that are NOT legit – be careful.
