TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) – Florida State University is warning students, faculty and staff against a new scam targeting the FSU community.
Administrators with the university’s Information Technology department, say a new phishing email is making the rounds on campus in an attempt to steal sensitive usernames and passwords.
The university says the email bears the subject line “Message from Florida State University” and claims that the recipients email account has been hacked. The email then asks the recipient to click on a link to log in and update their credentials. FSU says this link leads to a fraudulent phishing website that collects the username and password of whomever clicks on it. FSU says it’s I-T department will never ask for your email password.
