An attorney who worked with a Texas-based law firm accused of defrauding owners of homes damaged during Hurricane Ida was charged by the U.S. Attorney’s office in New Orleans on Friday.
Richard William Huye III, 34, was charged through a bill of information with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, the U.S. Attorney’s office announced on Friday afternoon. The charge carries up to five years in prison.
Huye was a managing partner at McClenny Moseley & Associates, a Houston-based law firm that filed thousands of hurricane damage lawsuits in Louisiana after Ida and was later accused of fraud over some of its practices.
