PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Berkshire Gas is alerting customers of an email scheme some customers have reported receiving from “Atmos Energy” seeking payment for their natural gas usage.
Berkshire Gas representatives told 22News they have determined, in speaking with these customers and from a post on the “Atmos Energy” website, that these are fraudulent emails. According to a message on the “Atmos Energy” website, this is a national scheme.
The following advice is being provided to Berkshire Gas customers on the Company’s website:
“Some Berkshire Gas customers have recently reported receiving emails from ‘Atmos Energy’ seeking payment for their natural gas usage.
These emails are a scheme and should be ignored and deleted from your computer.
These emails are in no way related to your Berkshire Gas account and the scammers sending them have not accessed any Berkshire Gas records or accounts.“
