Don’t Get Hooked In Target Phishing Schemes

GREENSBORO, NC — It doesn’t matter if you were or were not involved in the Target data breach, you will probably see a few schemes come your way.

David Dalrymple with the Better Business Bureau joins us for 2WTK today at 5:30pm. And while he will have more details to share, he is warning all of us to get ready for the con-artists to start calling, emailing and texting.

Dalrymple says don’t be surprised if you hear from what sounds and looks like Paypal, your credit card, or your bank. The email or call will sound and look official, including logos and such. 

Dalrymple told 2WTK the schemer’s job is to see if they can make it look official. That’s how they “phish” for information.

What you should do is call or contact the company, whether it’s the bank, Paypal, or credit card company directly. Use the number on the back of your card, the direct line for your branch, go directly to the website and don’t use any links that are provided for you in the “phishing” email.
