Three Nebraskans and three former Nebraskans are among 455 people nationwide charged with attempting to defraud Medicare and Medicaid.
The U.S. Department of Justice announced the charges earlier this week as part of its 2026 National Health Care Fraud Takedown.
The 455 defendants, which included 90 licensed medical providers, are accused of attempting to defraud Medicaid and Medicare of more than $6.55 billion.
“This year’s National Health Care Fraud Takedown represents the greatest whole-of-government effort to combat healthcare fraud in our nation’s history,” Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a news release.
Two of the Nebraskans’ cases were filed in state court.
