CROSS LANES, W.Va. (WCHS) — Dozens of Cross Lanes residents say they’ve spotted fraudulent charges on their debit and credit cards, prompting a local lawmaker to call for a closer look at payment systems at one area business.
Jennifer Hill, a shopper in Cross Lanes, said she is now on her third debit card after repeatedly dealing with unauthorized transactions.
“They were trying to take out very large purchases,” Hill said. “It’s getting to the point, this time I’m on my third debit card at this point. I am starting to just carry cash with me.”
Hill said she is not the only one reporting problems. Shoppers in Cross Lanes have made reports after using them at businesses in the area.
“You start seeing that other people, numerous people in the area are having the same problems,” Hill said. “Then, you start getting nervous about where you can even shop with your debit card.”
