MPUMALANGA – Samkelo Ngubane (50), a Deputy Director and Head of Department at Cooperate Governance and Traditional Affairs appeared in Mbombela Magistrate Court on Monday, 06 June 2022 on charges of contravention of Public Finance Management Act.
Ngubane was an additional suspect to a matter where Raymond Manzini (45), Deputy Director of Disaster Management under COGTA, Chris Manzini (33), Moses Ndlovu (61) and Zalabantu Estate Trust had been charged for fraud and contravention of the Public Finance Management Act in May 2022.
After the appointment was made, Moses Ndlovu’s company was reportedly not able to supply the resources and was allegedly financially aided by Manzini. After the delivery of the items, he invoiced the Department and from then repaid Manzini by depositing R6 million into the Deputy Director’s younger brother Chris Manizini’s account.
Ngubane was arrested in Nelspruit on Monday, 06 June 2022 by the Hawks team and he was released on R10 000-00 bail shortly after his first court appearance the same day.
He is expected to be back in court on 28 July 2022 alongside other suspects that were previously arrested and addition of more possible charges cannot be ruled out.
