NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn is one of nine Republican senators that will launch a new Senate Anti-Fraud Task Force.
The force, according to Blackburn’s office, will examine fraud, waste and abuse across federal programs, identify vulnerabilities in the existing systems and “strengthen government accountability.”
“Over the past year, the Trump administration has done phenomenal work to uncover widespread fraud schemes where criminals have stolen billions of dollars with zero consequences,” said Senator Blackburn. “It is outrageous how long Democrats have looked the other way while fraudsters steal from hardworking American taxpayers. It’s time for oversight and accountability to protect the integrity of federal programs.”
Sen. Blackburn launched the new task force alongside the following senators:

Insurance fraud involves making false or exaggerated claims to an insurance provider.
- Hard Fraud: Someone deliberately causes a loss (e.g., setting fire to a warehouse or staging a car accident) specifically to collect a payout.
- Soft Fraud: More common and often viewed as “victimless” by the perpetrator. It involves exaggerating a legitimate claim, such as overstating the value of stolen items in a home burglary to cover the deductible.
