Email Fraud Alert received from: Chris
I recently received an email with this subject line: Banking Service Message and I am concerned that it could be an attempt at defrauding me. Let me know in the comments section what you think, please.
The full contents of the suspected fraudulent (phishing / scamming) e-mail appear below:
Dear Standard Bank Client,
We noticed a suspicious IP address making series of
login attempts with your access number and as a result
have temporarily deregistered your online access.
Please confirm your recent access to show
that you are not currently away.
You have to respond with immediate effect to keep
it from getting permanently intermitted.

The above email was sent by “Standard.Bank” from this email address: service@e.notice.za
I, Chris, have the following thoughts/comments on this suspected fraudulent email message from “Standard.Bank”:
This one is significant because it avoided my spam trap and my Gmail spam filter and I am a client of Standard Bank.
BUT could not be from Standard Bank as I use a specific and unique e-mail address on the banks database should they send me mail. The first thing I do with any mail from “Standard Bank” is check that it comes from my unique address.
