NORTH WEST – A couple aged 48 and 55 with their funeral services company were summoned to appear in the Mmabatho Magistrates’ Court on 10 June 2022 on five charges of fraud.
It is alleged that in June 2015, the husband, who was a chairperson of the Rotarus Old Age Home, misappropriated the funds purporting to have paid the construction company for construction work. It was discovered that he allegedly transferred more than R2.2 million into the funeral services company that he co-founded with his wife.
The matter was reported to the Mahikeng based Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team for further handling. The investigation was completed and they were summoned on 14 April 2022.
