GAUTENG – Ayanda Annelisa Ntlabathi (27) was arrested for fraud, forgery and uttering by members of the Vaal Rand Serious Corruption Investigation on Monday, 13 November 2023 and subsequently made a brief appearance in court.
Her arrest came after her life partner Solomon Adamu was arrested in April 2022 for corruption and human trafficking. During his bail application, he submitted various documents in order for him to get bail. The documents were investigated and it was discovered that his asylum and his spouse’s permit were obtained fraudulently. The Department of Home Affairs registered a criminal case to cancel his permit. The case was brought to the attention of the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation in Vaalrand and he was arrested on 29 September 2023 for fraud, forgery and uttering. He appeared in the Springs Magistrates’ court on the day of arrest and was denied bail. He is still in custody.
Ayanda Ntlabathi was informed by Home Affairs that Solomon Adamu had registered a marriage against her name and she denied it. She submitted a statement under oath that she is not married to him and even registered a fraud case against him only to withdraw the case five (5) days later. On the bail hearing of Adamu, she submitted a second statement under oath stating that he is her life partner. The case of perjury was registered against her and warrant of arrest was issued. She handed herself over and she was arrested.
She appeared in the Springs Magistrates’ Court today and her case was rolled over to tomorrow for bail application. Adamu will appear again in court on the 24 November 2023 where he will be joined by Ntlabathi.
