Email Fraud Alert received from: Hikmet
I recently received an email with this subject line: £5000.00 SENT and I am concerned that it could be an attempt at defrauding me. Let me know in the comments section what you think, please.
The full contents of the suspected fraudulent (phishing / scamming) e-mail appear below:
£5000.00 SENT PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED FILE FOR DETAILS
(A reasonably good copy of an ‘official’ Western Union document was attached – CUSTOMER RECEIPT.pdf).
Apparently my good fortune is brought to me by Susan Reeves in London, my challenge question is Colo(ur?) and the answer is Blue.
But the joy and giving does not stop there: According to Susan (I feel so close to my benefactor that I am now bold enough to call her by her first name!) that as soon as I pick up the funds I must call/email her and she will send me another £5000.00 until I receive a total amount of £820 000.00.
The above email was sent by “Admin office” from this email address: rfr342@hotmail.com
I, Hikmet, have the following thoughts/comments on this suspected fraudulent email message from “Admin office”:
This one slipped past two spam filters and went straight into my inbox – I will have to pass on this one though Susan as, despite you encouraging me to call I cannot find a telephone number for you. Maybe some lucky Nigerian guy will get to give me $1 gazillion!
