SAPS warn against fake complaints

Post a Fraud Alert:

Cullinan Acting Station Commander Captain Coralie Nel has strongly urged the community members to refrain from reporting false complaints to the police.

Captain Nel stated these with a very great concern, following a recent false complaint that was made regarding an alleged murder. Members of the public are being urged to only report crimes in a genuine emergency to avoid wasting valuable police resources and police time especially with serious complaints such as murder. We take our Community serious and positively respond to all their complaints.

She uttered these words after the fake murder complain was reported at the police station at approximately 09:30, Tuesday 2016/08/16, whereby a community member allegedly discovered a middle aged male covered with plastic bag lying on the ground in Refilwe and immediately alerted the police.

The police responded immediately and arrived to the scene. An unknown male who was reported dead, noticed the community and the police’s presence, immediately got up and ran away.

Captain Nel stated that her office cannot tolerate such conduct since the organisation is already spending its valuable resources on fake cases and further pleaded with the Community to act responsibly and respect the Police.

She further mentioned that the resources and Saps members energy could and should be spent where necessary or other relevant places, our primary goal is to bring down crime rate in Cullinan area and we need Community support.
