Khayelitsha police officers and police clerk arrested for corruption

Fraud Alert:

Western Cape: Investigations by the Western Cape Anti-Corruption unit led to the arrest of two police sergeants aged 40 and 38 respectively and a police clerk aged 50 on a charge of corruption this morning. The suspects are detained and are due to make a court appearance in Khayelitsha once they have been charged.

It is alleged that the members received a sum of money from a person who was arrested with her husband on a charge of possession of stolen property on 2016-10-26 in exchange to be released. After paying the money, the person was released and went to court the next day to make enquiries why her husband was not released, only to learn that the charge against her was never dropped. She had to appear with her husband as a co-accused. On 2016-10-28 she approached Khayelitsha police and reported the matter, and at the completion of the investigation a warrant for the arrest of the members was issued.

Corruption within our ranks will not be tolerated and we will not hesitate to take action against our members who has no respect for the law.
