Clothing Shop fraudster nabbed

Post a Fraud Alert:

A 29-year-old man is due to appear today in the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court facing charges of alleged fraud. He was arrested yesterday after he allegedly tried to defraud a clothing shop at the mall. On 16 November 2016 during the day, the suspect went to a clothing shop at the mall where he wanted to buy clothes on credit account. He allegedly used someone’s identity document to purchase clothes. The sales lady became suspicious of the man and while she was busy verifying the suspect’s particulars, he ran out of the shop. The security guards were alerted and gave chase. He was caught and handed over to the police. The man was charged with fraud and his false identity document was confiscated.

KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa praised the sales lady who noticed that the suspect was there to defraud the shop of clothes. Most of suspects will use this festive season holidays to defraud shops using fake identity documents or false information. I urged everyone, including the banks, furniture shops and clothing shops to be always vigilant when they deal with their suspicious customers who want to open accounts for loans or clothings, he said.
